Am Pàipear has a proud history as the voice of the islands.

For 50 years the paper has ensured residents are fully informed about what is happening in their community and beyond.

Am Pàipear has recently gone through a significant restructure, with a new board of directors now in place, who are determined to resurrect Am Pàipear to its previously pivotal role within the community.

The aim is to create a sustainable platform — a news service fit for the current day, giving voice to the opinions and concerns of islanders, on matters including, but not limited to, public services, local government, transportation, community ownership, crofting, sport and more. There will also be a focus on showcasing local people, community developments and initiatives, and local events.

The new board, led by Calum Morrison & Hector MacLeod, will update the community regularly on progress, with the first priority being the recruitment of a new Editor and getting back to publication as soon as possible. They also extend grateful thanks to previous advertisers and subscribers for their previous and continuing support, and look forward to working with all supporters again in the future.

Am Pàipear is published once a month. There is also a website and social media channels. Our aspiration is to provide a comprehensive news service with content prepared in different formats appropriate for each audience.
