Fast, Fierce, and from Uist

North Uist Athletics runners Tony Wesley and Thomas Brennan just made Scottish athletics history.

Their relay team grabbed gold at the BUCS Outdoor Championships in Cardiff — and they did it in record‑breaking style, running the fastest time a Scottish team has ever managed in the event: 41.08 seconds.

Both Tony and Thomas now study at the University of Aberdeen, where they also compete for the uni’s athletics team. In the men’s 4x100m relay, they lined up against squads from all over the UK and came out on top.

Before heading to Aberdeen, the pair ran with North Uist Amateur Athletics Club and represented the Western Isles at the International Island Games.

Their winning relay team was made up of Tony, Thomas, Bradley Francis and Justin Ekeh — and the four of them are now being talked about as one of Aberdeen’s most iconic BUCS victories.

For context, BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) is the main organisation that runs competitive university sport across the UK. They oversee events in more than 50 sports for over 160 institutions.
