    They were so full of joy and laughter. They were so kind to everyone, they said prayers for everyone and there was always a cup of tea for everyone.

    The family of the late John MacLean, Berneray and Inverness, wish to sincerely thank everyone who has supported them following their sad bereavement.  Your kind words, cards and presence at the funeral in Berneray, especially those who travelled from near and far, meant so much to the family. 

    The family also wish to thank the medical teams at Raigmore Hospital for their care. 

    A special thank you to Rev Alen McCulloch for his comforting service.   A total of £1,100 was donated to Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland following the service. 

    The family would also like to thank all those who helped with logistics and practicalities in the lead up to and on the day of the funeral. 

    Heartfelt thanks also go to the ladies of the Berneray community, who prepared and served a delicious lunch in the hall. 

    Final thanks go to John Fraser & Son, Chapel Street, Inverness and Alasdair A Morrison, North Uist for their support during this difficult time.

    Remembering a much loved brother and uncle, Duncan MacDonald who died on the 16th April 2025.

    Isabel Steel thanks all those who visited Duncan over many years and, in particular, thanks Mary MacInnes, Mary McCormick, Chris Spears, Billy and Marianne Fraser and Steven and Millie Clarke, all of whom cared for and supported him latterly. His home carers were also very devoted and are due great thanks. Val Dix, Lochmaddy Surgery, Uist and Barra Hospital, ambulance crew and healthcare workers are also thanked.

    Thank you to all who attended Duncan’s funeral, some from a distance, and to those from all over the world who sent flowers, messages and cards, to the Rev Fergus MacBain, John Angus MacKillop and John MacAulay, precentors, the local gravediggers and Alasdair Morrison for his dignified and sensitive help. Particular thanks are due to the ladies who prepared the hall and served the teas after the funeral. Lorraine Burke at short notice designed the order of service and arranged their printing which was much appreciated.

    Gaeldom has lost one of its last great traditional singers, storytellers, local historians and genealogists.

    Precious memories of our beloved father, grandfather and father-in-law Ronald Iain MacDonald of 6 Balmartin, North Uist, who passed away on 7 March 2025.

    Treasured memories also of our beloved mother, grandmother and mother-in-law Morag MacDonald, 6 Balmartin, North Uist, who passed away on 4 March 2017.

    No longer here our lives to share
    But in our hearts you are always there.

    Sorely missed and always remembered by Ewen, Jessie Ann, Paul, Morag and Donnie.

    The family of the late Iain Buchanan, Torlum, wish to thank most sincerely all neighbours and friends for their many kind words, food and cakes. Also sympathy shown in visits, cards, phone calls and flowers received.

    Thank you also to everyone that cared for Iain. Homecare staff, GPs, nurses, Ospadal Uibhist agus Bharraigh. Thanks to Rev Ann Inglis and Rev Ishie MacDonald for support in hospital and at home and for funeral service. Thanks to Neil MacIntrye for his professional service for the funeral arrangements. Thanks to all that came to the church and graveside and to the Stepping Stone for their great service and lovely food following the funeral.

    The family of the late Mary Ann MacLellan, Bayview, Lochboisdale, wish to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to friends, neighbours and family for their kindness and support in calling to her home, sending cards, flowers and messages of sympathy, and to all who attended the funeral.

    Thank you to Father Ross for his celebration of the Requiem Mass and for his lovely words and spiritual guidance, and to Pauline and her choir for their music.

    A special word of thanks to Dr Bird and the staff at South Uist Medical Practice for their medical attention, to the ambulance crew, and to the staff of Tagsa Uibhist and Caraidean Uibhist for their service and kindness over the years.
