Acknowledgement: Duncan MacKinnon, Berneray
Isabel Steel thanks all those who visited Duncan over many years and, in particular, thanks Mary MacInnes, Mary McCormick, Chris Spears, Billy and Marianne Fraser and Steven and Millie Clarke, all of whom cared for and supported him latterly. His home carers were also very devoted and are due great thanks. Val Dix, Lochmaddy Surgery, Uist and Barra Hospital, ambulance crew and healthcare workers are also thanked.
Thank you to all who attended Duncan’s funeral, some from a distance, and to those from all over the world who sent flowers, messages and cards, to the Rev Fergus MacBain, John Angus MacKillop and John MacAulay, precentors, the local gravediggers and Alasdair Morrison for his dignified and sensitive help. Particular thanks are due to the ladies who prepared the hall and served the teas after the funeral. Lorraine Burke at short notice designed the order of service and arranged their printing which was much appreciated.
Gaeldom has lost one of its last great traditional singers, storytellers, local historians and genealogists.
