SnBM director nominations open
Nominations are now open for the annual election of Sealladh na Beinne Mòire (SnBM) directors.
Board director roles are open to all SnBM members, and nominations need to be signed and seconded by two members.
There are two vacancies this year, as a result of both Mary Schmoller and Andrew Laing standing down after concluding their three years of service.
Nominations close at 12 noon on Friday 14th October, with the election period running from Monday 24th October to Wednesday 16th November.
Election results will be announced on Thursday 17th November, with the Annual General Meeting taking place at 7.30pm on Thursday 24th November at Talla an Iochdair.
Last year’s elections saw 435 members cast their vote, representing 51.7% of the current membership.
At last year’s AGM, a motion was passed to amend Article 46 and 47 of the company’s Articles of Association, simplifying the rules around rotation of directors with a statement that ‘an elected Director shall serve for 3 years and then retire from the Board’. The updated Articles also set out the requirement that ‘at each AGM, all Co-opted Directors shall retire’.
Chief Executive Darren Taylor said: “We would like to encourage as many people as possible to stand for election. This is an important and rewarding role, working alongisde fellow directors and the executive management team to set the direction of our community company.”
